Violence against women is a great destruction of human rights. It greatly influence the health and mental status of the women. This type of violence took its place in the society because of narrow mentality of the human beings. Man perpetrated such type of violence because they are female. There are different states of VAW (violence against women): rape, domestic violence, sexual harassment, reproductive coercion, female infanticide, prenatal sex selection, obstetric violence, and mob violence.
Also, harmful customary or traditional practices such as honor killings, dowry violence, female genital mutilation, marriage by abduction and forced marriage. Some forms of violence are perpetrated or condoned by certain states such as war rape; sexual violence and sexual slavery during conflict; forced sterilization; forced abortion. Moreover, trafficking in women and forced prostitution are often perpetrated by organized criminal networks.
Atrocities of such VAW (violence against women) has different impact on women and girls. It costs the health of the women well-being and also ruin the families of the victims. It prevents the women and girls to participate in the society. Violence has not only negative impact on victims but also on their families, society and the countries at large.

Women is source of energy & power to the world, she just needs to centralized her energy into her & dignity.
Violence Against Women is Categorized in the Different Stages of Life, from Before Birth to Old Age.
Violence against women is generally seen in every place either it is government sector or private sector. Even, women face violence in every stage of life.
Right from the Before Birth:
People never want girl to come in their family. They always think of male child, and it is because of this reason the child’s sex ratio is only 919.
After Reaching to the Age of Childhood:
Here, they also not get equality. They do not get good quality of education because parents mind is corrupt. Parents think that only the son will take their name forward, and daughter is a ‘paraya dhan’. Furthermore, the health condition of female child is also not taken properly. This is visible as malnutrition is more among the girls in comparison to boys.
Adolescence:
At this stage of their life, violence against women is due to the thought of patriarchal. It was believed that men are more compatible to the women. Even, has a feeling too that they are stronger to the female. It increases the perpetration of rapes, acid attack, physical assault.
Marriage:-
On reaching to this stage, family put pressure on the women to marry, without their consent. Even, they face the physical assault on her. After getting marriage, they have to take the burden of mother, housewife, and other responsibility of house. Albeit, they do not care of their health. Due to which their health condition deteriorated day by day.
Old Age:
Mostly people face the difficult in the final stage of life as they totally depend upon their husbands, on her son or daughter. Well, it is the last stage of human beings where they need respect, love from other. But here also, they do not even get such.
At least one out of every three women in the world is being coerced into sex, beaten or abuse in her lifetime usually someone known to her. The United Nation in 2006 declared this statistics in the United Nations Development Fund for Women. Women does not get that respect as they should be given from the society. You all get the news from the magazines, newspaper that women are being beaten brutally, murdered, rape etc. Although, they get substantial requirements but under the dominance of men.
This issue has made the world to take step for the welfare of the women. The UN Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women states, “violence against women is a manifestation of historically unequal power relations between men and women”. Hence, violence against women is one of the crucial social mechanisms through which men can put under them
The UN has Taken Several Steps to Eradicate the Atrocity Against Women.
International agreements such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) made women’s right to live free. Especially, through General Recommendations 12 and 19, and the 1993 UN Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women. UN Women works with countries at the global level to advance the international normative framework through support provided to inter-governmental processes, such as the General Assembly and the CSW. At the country level, UN Women supports Governments in adopting and enacting legal reforms aligned with international standards.
We partner with Governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations and other institutions to advocate for ending violence, increase awareness of the causes and consequences of violence and build capacity of partners to prevent and respond to violence. We also promote the need for changing norms and behaviour of men and boys, and advocate for gender equality and women’s rights. UN Women supports expanding access to quality multi-sectoral responses for survivors covering safety, shelter, health, justice and other essential services. Policy guidance helps to step up investments in prevention—the most cost-effective, long-term means to stop violence.
We work with Governments to develop dedicated national action plans to prevent and address violence against women, strengthening coordination among diverse actors required for sustained and meaningful action. UN Women also advocates for the integration of violence in key international, regional and national frameworks, such as the post-2015 development agenda.
