July 1st in history has been of considerable significance for many reasons, could be attributed to bad and good reasons. Some of the incidents that impacted the lives and livelihood of humanity are mentioned below:

June 1st in World History- Important Events on this Day

1690- King James II was defeated by King William III of England in the Battle of the Boyne on an attempt to take back the throne.

1863- One of the important battles of American Civil War happened & began on this day. It was named as the Battle of Gettysburg.

1903- Tour de France began on this day. It is the world’s most prestigious and most difficult bicycle race event. More so, three foremost races are Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta a España), and the Tour de France. Among there, it attracts the world’s best riders.

1963- For the unversed, this day is considered among the significant day of the history. On this day, the U.S. Postal Service introduced the Zone Improvement Plan Code, commonly known as the ZIP Code.

1968- For the unversed, this day is considered among the significant day of the history. It is so because the United States, the United Kingdom, the U.S.S.R., and 59 other states signed the (NNPT) Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in an attempt to make an end to the spread of nuclear weapons.

1997 – The crown colony of Hong Kong officially reverted to Chinese sovereignty, ending 156 years of British rule.

2002- The International Criminal Court sittings began from this day. For the uninitiated, the International Criminal Court has been established to prosecute and adjudicate individuals accused of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

2020- On this day, NAFTA (The North American Free Trade Agreement) was replaced by the United States- Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA). For the unversed, this controversial trade pact was established in 1994.

1-July-1882: July 1st is the anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a great professor, politician, physician, leader and a veteran nationalist.

1-July-1902: K. S. Ranjit Singh “Ranji” scored 230 runs as the captain and Newham (153). They added 344 runs for 7th wicket at Sussex Vs Essex.

1-July-1906: July 1st is the birth anniversary of Pulavar Kulandai, a great author and poet. He was born at Bhavani.

1-July-1909: A prominent revolutionary, Madanlal Dhingra, assassinated Sir William Curzon Wyllie, an Anglo-Indian, at the Imperial Institute in London.

1-July-1913: Vasantrao Phulsing Naik, an Indian Politician who credited many achievements in his name was born at Ganuli (Yeotmal). He was former Chief Minister of Maharashtra State. And to this date, he remains the longest serving CM

1-July-1927: Chandra Shekhar, the eighth Prime Minister of India, who served to the post of PM between 10 November 1990 and 21st June 1991.

1-July-1928: The gruesome incident in which fifteen people were killed in Calcutta as Hindus attacked Muslims.

1-July-1929: July 1st is the birth Anniversary of Ramchandra Ganpatrao Shinde, a true educationist. He was born at Burhanpur, (M.P.).
